WCHS Homecoming Week: Oct. 14-19

Next week is homecoming week at White County High School, and the theme is “Lights, Camera, Warriors.” The homecoming parade will be held Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m., and attendees are invited to line the street from Tesnatee Gap to White County High School.

Early voting begins Monday

The early voting period for municipal elections in Cleveland and Helen begins next week. Advance balloting will be held from Monday, Oct. 14, through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Cleveland City Hall, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Helen City Hall.

Carriage operators say city’s change will impact business

Helen’s three horse-drawn carriage companies are asking city commissioners to reconsider a recent decision requiring the operations to find new staging areas on private property instead of city streets. Representatives from each company spoke at the Helen City Commission’s Tuesday, Oct. 8, meeting.

A Cleveland man has been charged with rape. John Wesley Wilson, 36, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The White County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Northeast Georgia Medical Center around 1:50 a.m. Oct.
