TMU to begin fall sports Sept. 15

The Appalachian Athletic Conference Council of Presidents announced Monday plans begin fall competition for cross country, volleyball, and soccer on Sept. 15. The AAC, including Truett McConnell University, will play only conference games this fall, along with conference championship events.

Warriors in pads; GHSA continues to ponder fall plans

The White County Warriors got a chance to put on the pads this week, kicking off the first official week of practice with workouts in helmets, shoulder pads, and shorts. The Warriors have a couple of weeks in pads before taking on Fannin County in a pre-season scrimmage Aug. 21 in Blue Ridge.

WC volleyball team hosts scrimmage today

After making a historic run to the Elite Eight last year, the White County High School volleyball team will step on the court for the first time this season with a pre-season scrimmage against Lanier this afternoon in Cleveland.

On Tuesday, for the first time since March, there was a game at White County High School. The Lady Warriors and Habersham Central got together for a pre-season softball scrimmage.
The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced earlier this that its 21 member institutions, including Truett McConnell University, intend to compete in all fall sports in 2020.

WCMS teams begin fall prep

It's time for the White County Middle School fall sports teams to start the process of preparing for the 2020 fall sports season. The school's football team has been having workouts for several weeks, mirroring the summer program  used by the Warriors' high school team.

The first step?

Barring a last minute change, fall sports will start next week for a pair of White County High school teams. The Lady Warriors' softball team is set to host a preseason scrimmage on Aug. 4 against the Habersham Central Lady Raiders, and then kick off the regular season Friday, Aug.

Warriors ready for pads; add scimmage to schedule

While softball and volleyball open the regular season next week, the White County football team will put on pads for the first time next Monday with the start of full contact workouts. Last week, the Georgia High School Association pushed back the start of the 2020 season by two weeks until Sept.

Area coaches weigh in on football delay

On Monday, the Georgia High School Association announced plans to delay the start of the 2020 high school football season. The GHSA Board of Trustees voted 12-0 to postpone the start of the season until September, but plans to plan a full 10-game schedule, along with the state playoffs.

When the news came out late Monday that the Georgia High School Association was postponing the start of the 2020 high school football season, most people around the sport considered it to be a positive step forward.
