Lady Warriors open playoffs next week

The White County Lady Warriors are back in the Class AAA state tournament this year, after finishing the regular season as the No. 3 from Region 7-AAA. The Lady Warriors have huge task in the first round as they head to Norcross next Tuesday to take on Greater Atlanta Christian.

WCHS STAR performers

Anthony Johnson has been named White County High School’s STAR student for the Class of 2022, choosing Kalin Kennedy as STAR teacher. The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) award is a recognition by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.

Ruth Davidson is White County High School’s Class of 2022 valedictorian, with Rachel Harris earning salutatorian honors. Davidson said she is excited to be named valedictorian, though she recognizes the hard work of her classmates.

Warriors complete area sweep, win 7-AAA traditional championship

The White County Warrior wrestling team completed a historic sweep last Saturday in Dahlonega, winning the program's first-ever area traditional tournament title. The Warriors posted 219 points to hold off Lumpkin County, which finished with 205 points, for the 7-AAA championship.

Autry wins Hook'Em title

The White County Warriors capped off the holiday break last week by wrestling in the Hook'Em Holiday Clash in Suwanee. The Warriors finished ninth among 25 teams in the event. North Forsyth wont the team title with 214 points, with West Forsyth second at 192, and Lambert was third at 168.5.

Search underway for next Warriors head football coach

White County High School is in search of a new football coach after Tim Cokely announced Nov. 29 he is stepping down position after leading the program for the past five years. Cokely, who was hired in 2017, released a statement Monday afternoon explaining his decision.

Cokely resigns as Warriors head football coach

White County High School head football coach Tim Cokely announced his resignation Monday afternoon. “White County has been good to me and my family, and we are truly grateful for the trust they placed in us by allowing us to fill this role," Cokely said in a statement released Nov. 29.

WCHS drama department begins performances of The Diviners on Dec. 2

The White County High School drama department will hold performances of The Diviners beginning Thursday, Dec. 2, on the school’s main stage. “The play is set in the rural town of Zion, Indiana in the 1930s.
