Cleveland reviews alcohol ordinance

The City of Cleveland is reviewing proposed amendments to their alcohol ordinance. The amendments come after then-police chief John Foster requested the city council review the ordinance and put a 90-day moratorium on issuing new alcohol licenses while they reviewed the ordinance in December.

A residence on Partin Road in Cleveland was damaged in a fire on Friday, Jan. 29.  According to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy, a call about the residential fire came in at 12:37 p.m.

Shoemaker named new Cleveland police chief

by Stephanie Hill White County News   Jeffrey Shoemaker will be the Cleveland Police Department’s new chief. The Cleveland City Council voted 3-1 to hire Shoemaker at a Jan. 25 called meeting to consider selecting a police chief. He was among three finalists named Jan. 11, along with CPD Maj.
As the new White County Board of Elections works on developing its policies and procedures, the group will be studying the possibility of consolidating some of the county’s 11 voting precincts.
