Cleveland police say a man was injured after reportedly shooting himself in the leg on accident at Freedom Park on Jan. 6. Officers were dispatched to the park at 3:35 p.m. in reference to a man, identified as Seth Herrin, 44, of Cornelia, who had been shot in the leg, said CPD Lt. Donna Sims.

The White County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two burglaries on Friday, Jan. 1, which included the theft of a White County Water Authority truck . “That vehicle was located at Laurel Creek Mini Storage, which was also burglarized on Friday night,” Sheriff Rick Kelley said.

White County ended 2020 with 685 confirmed COVID-19 cases in December, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Jan. 5 status report. The previous monthly high had been 363 cases in September. There were 2,025 total confirmed coronavirus cases reported in White County during 2020.
