Cleveland appoints new police chief

In a 3 to 1 vote, the Cleveland City Council approved the appointment of Jeffrey Shoemaker, of White County, as the new Cleveland Police Chief during its meeting on Monday, Jan. 25. Shoemaker is currently employed with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Fasching fun coming to Helen

It’s almost Mardi Gras, which means it’ll soon be Fasching time in Helen. Kicking off the celebration will be the 5th Annual Helen Hüttengaudi Pub Crawl and Scavenger Hunt on Jan. 29-30 hosted by the Faschingsverein Helen group.
