by Matthew Osborne, The Northeast Georgian Lee Arrendale State Prison had its fourth sexual assault arrest of the first five months of the year on May 21. Tyler Sterling Hall, 24, of Cleveland was arrested on three counts of sexual assault against a person in custody.

There have been 100 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the 1 p.m. update on Friday, May 29, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 20 hospitalizations and three deaths attributed to COVID-19.

The Georgia High School Association began the process of restarting high school athletics in Georgia, announcing a plan for summer conditioning to begin on June 8. Since the middle of March, high school athletics in the state has been shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kemp to let bars, summer school open in Georgia

By Beau Evans Staff Writer Capitol Beat News Service Gov. Brian Kemp moved Thursday to relax broad social restrictions in Georgia on bars, nightclubs, summer school classes and overnight summer camps in the coming weeks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
