There have been 413 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update  on Wednesday, Aug. 19, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. In White County there have been 66 hospitalizations and eight deaths attributed to COVID-19.

On Wednesday, Aug. 19, White County School System provided a COVID-19 update. In the information released, it said out of the 3,707 students enrolled, two have reported positive COVID-19 test results. There are 15 students quarantined for possible exposure.

Volleyball, cross country open season this week

It's go time for the White County High School volleyball and cross country teams. The WCHS volleyball team opened it's regular season slate Wednesday with a tri-match at Chestatee High School, while the cross country teams will compete in the Hoya 2 Mile Invitational Saturday in Acworth.
The fate of the high school football season is still unclear, but the White County Warriors and the rest of the teams around the state found out last week they won't be playing any preseason scrimmages.

Lady Warriors return to Class AAA with playoff aspirations

The White County Lady Warriors softball team kicked off the regular season this week. The Lady Warriors came up short in both of the games, falling to Habersham Central and Union County on consecutive days, but head coach Drew Owens believes thing will get better sooner rather than later.

JROTC student takes early start to military career

Tori McDuffie, a rising senior at White County High School, recently completed basic training over the summer through the Army National Guard’s Split Training Option. McDuffie is battalion commander for the high school JROTC and part of the WCHS Raider competition squad.
