Wood processing plant plans moving forward after fire

WCMS shuts out Fannin, 18-0

The White County Middle School football used a stellar defensive effort last week to win its first league title in more than a decade. The Warriors (6-1) closed out the year with an 18-0 win over Fannin County, giving the Warriors the Mountain Athletic Conference eighth-grade championship.

Hurricane Zeta makes presence known in White County

Even though it had lost strength by the time it reached White County, Hurricane Zeta still made its presence known on Thursday, Oct. 29. On Wednesday, Oct. 28, a Tropical Storm warning was issued for most of north Georgia, including White County.

Authorities searching for missing Cleveland man

Authorities are searching for Tam Thank Mai, a Cleveland man who has been reported as missing. According to the White County Sheriff's Office, he was last seen in the area of Helen, Georgia. Mai is 5'11, weighs 165 pounds, has black hair, and brown eyes.
There have been 997 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in White County since the start of the pandemic, according to the update on Sunday, Oct. 25, on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website.

WCHS runners race at Wood Invitational; set to host 7-AAA region meet next week at Unicoi

The White County cross country teams had heading toward the finish line of the 2020 season. The Warrior runners got in some late season work last weekend, the squads competed in one of the larger events of the season at at the Coach Wood Invitational in Whitesburg.

Overtime field goal hands North Hall 34-31 win

A couple of weeks ago, the White County Warriors were 4-0 and getting ready to start a run at the 7-AAA title. Now the Warriors are in a fight just to stay in the race for a state playoff spot after suffering a stunning 34-31 loss to North Hall last Friday night in Cleveland.
