WCMS, golfers raise money for Wilson's cancer battle

Kaden Wilson, a seventh-grade student at White County Middle School, was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and some of the staff at WCMS are helping him with his fight against the disease. WCMS teacher Esta Johnson has known Wilson for several years and is a cancer survivor as well.

Warriors' historic start ends

The White County Warriors' hopes of starting the season with a 5-0 record for the first time in school history came to an end on the wet turf at Dawson County High School last Friday night as the Tigers used a late touchdown to hand the Warriors their first loss of the season, 42-35.

A journey of one year to becoming cancer free

One person charged in Oct. 7 accident

A driver is facing charges from an Oct. 7 wreck involving a motorcycle and car that injured two people. The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. at Ga. 115 and Town Creek Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Hiker falls from Yonah

A hike on Yonah Mountain turned tragic after a person died following a fall on Tuesday, Oct. 13. White County emergency services responded around 10:30 a.m. to a report that a woman had fallen from the mountain’s rock face formation.

Hundreds turn out for first day of early voting

A couple hundred people turned out in White County on the first day of advanced, in-person voting Tuesday, Oct. 13. White County Chief Registrar Lisa Manning said 661 voters showed up to cast their ballots for the Nov. 3 general election.
