Dawsonville man arrested for incest

A Dawsonville man has been arrested and charged with incest. The White County Sheriff's Office responded Sept. 13 to a residence in the area of Westmoreland Road regarding a dispute, according to a statement from WCSO Capt. Clay Hammond.

Zaxby's in Cleveland is closed due to an early morning fire on Thursday, Sept. 9. According to Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt, the Cleveland Fire Department responded to the restaurant at approximately 1:30 a.m. to a fire alarm.

White County High School has received $8,000 for vocational training curriculum for students with disabilities. WCHS special education teacher Cynthia Vaughn applied for the grant through the Georgia Department of Education, to better assist her students.

Higher rates of confirmed COVID-19 infections continue in White County. The seven-day moving average of confirmed cases reached another high mark for the county at a rate of 38 new reports per day on Sept. 7, according a daily update by Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH).
