No foul play is suspected in a Helen death investigation, according to Helen Police Chief Brian Stephens. The victim, Michael Stewart, 62, of Helen, died of natural causes, said White County Coroner Ricky Barrett. Stewart was found deceased on Saturday, Feb.

Authorities responded to a chimney fire at a residence on Monroe Ridge on Friday, Feb. 26. According to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy, at 5 p.m., firefighters responded to a 2,000 square foot rental cabin, and found it was 30% involved through the roof.

The White County Warriors staged a late rally to knock off East Hall 5-4 last Friday in the season opener. The Warriors scored three times in the fifth inning to erase the Viking's early 3-0 lead, and then added a run in the sixth inning and a run in the eighth inning to pick up the win.

Jones turns pork project into new book

Local author Emory Jones has been known to ham it up with stories about the adventures of his pet pig, Cunningham. Those humorous columns appearing in the White County News have grown quite a following in recent years – so it’s only natural that he finally wrote a book that goes whole hog.
