Whether as a minister, writer or a friend, Joe Mason is being remembered for kindness and the connections he made with many people. The longtime White County News columnist and Sautee Nacoochee resident passed away Feb. 3 at the age of 85.

Warrior trio wins area titles; Sullens wrestles for state championship tonight

White County High School senior Devin Sullens can add a state title to his resume Feb. 11 in Macon. Sullens, a two-time state runner-up, will lock up with Gilmer County's Dylan Galloway in the 220-pound division championship match at the Class AAA tournament at the Macon Centreplex.

Cleveland resident arrested after fleeing deputies

A burglary suspect accused of fleeing deputies has been arrested. White County Sheriff Rick Kelley said deputies had been looking for Corey Franklin Cantrell, 32, of Cleveland for a few weeks in regards to a burglary investigation. On Tuesday, Feb. 9, around 7 p.m.

Fasching sidewalk and river parade Saturday in Helen

The Fasching celebration will continue in Helen this Saturday, Feb. 6, with the 10th Annual Sidewalk and River Parade. This gathering meets in the riverfront conference room at the Helendorf Hotel at noon for registration, before starting the parade at 1 p.m.
