The City of Helen is looking into the possibility of installing an automated pay parking meter in the two municipal parking lots at the intersection of Edelweiss Strasse and Chattahoochee Strasse. City commissioners heard from Lugene Gibbs with Creative Parking Concepts at their Feb. 16 meeting.

The Fasching celebration will continue in Helen this Saturday, Feb. 6, with the 10th Annual Sidewalk and River Parade. This gathering meets in the riverfront conference room at the Helendorf Hotel at noon for registration, before starting the parade at 1 p.m.

It’s almost Mardi Gras, which means it’ll soon be Fasching time in Helen. Kicking off the celebration will be the 5th Annual Helen Hüttengaudi Pub Crawl and Scavenger Hunt on Jan. 29-30 hosted by the Faschingsverein Helen group.
