BOE purchases land for planned WCHS growth

The White County Board of Education approved the purchase of nearly 15 acres adjacent to White County High School, as part of a plan to add a performing arts center. School Superintendent Dr. Laurie Burkett says the need for a performing arts center has been talked about for a while.

County recreation gym to be renovated

The White County Parks & Recreation gymnasium will be getting a facelift. County commissioners approved three bids totaling roughly $93,500 related to replacing the gym’s bleachers and flooring, at the board’s Monday, Aug. 26, meeting.
