Qualifying for the Cleveland City Council Ward 2 special election is set to begin Monday. The qualifying period for Ward 2 candidates will be Monday, March 30, through Wednesday, April 1. Candidates will be able to qualify at Cleveland City Hall on Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A rabid raccoon in the area of Gene Nix Road is the sixth confirmed rabies case in White County for 2020. According to White County Environmental Health Manager Sean Sullivan, the homeowner heard a "screaming" sound on her porch in the late afternoon on Thursday, March 19.

White County now has its first confirmed case of COVID-19. The information came in the noon update on the Georgia Department of Public Health's website. With this update, there were now 1,247 confirmed cases in Georgia, 394 people hospitalized and 40 deaths.
