Early in-person voting is set to start next week, but election officials have already been busy with absentee ballot activity.
White County Chief Registrar Lisa Manning said that 5,867 absentee ballots had been mailed and voters had returned 1,479 as of Monday, May 11.

Kemp to keep bars closed, open summer day camps

Gov. Brian Kemp announced Tuesday he plans to extend mandatory statewide closures for bars and nightclubs in Georgia amid ongoing concerns over coronavirus, which to date has killed nearly 1,500 people in the state and sickened thousands more.
