The White County High School sub-varsity teams both picked up wins over the past two weeks.
The Warriors' junior varsity squad started things off with a 26-14 win over Habersham Central on Sept. 10.

WC runs at Warpath

The White County cross country teams competed in the Warpath Invitational Saturday in Canton, along with more than 30 teams from around the northern half of the state.
The Lady Warriors finished 16th in the girl's varsity division, while the Warriors were 25th among the boy's teams.

WCMS second at league tourney

The White County Middle School volleyball team brought home the runner-up trophy last Saturday at the North Georgia Mountain League Tournament in Dahlonega.
The Lady Warriors knocked off Lumpkin County 2-0 in the tournament semifinals, but fell to Fannin County 2-0 in the championship match.

The White County volleyball team stayed atop the Area 7-AAA leaderboard with a pair of road wins Tuesday night in Oakwood.
The Lady Warriors (17-4) improved to 5-0 in area play with wins over Cherokee Bluff and West Hall.

The last time the White County High School started football season with a 4-0 mark, George Busbee was the governor, Jimmy Carter opened a campaign headquarters in his run for the presidency, and Bill White was entering his fifth year as the head coach of the Warriors.

Authorities respond to Tuesday night residential fire

Emergency personnel responded to a report of a residential fire on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
A call came in around 7 p.m. about a kitchen fire at a residence on Ga. 255 North that the fire was started from grease while somebody was cooking, according to White County Public Safety Director David Murphy.

Two people are dead following a residential fire on Sunday morning, Sept. 20.
A caller contacted White County 911 around 2:49 a.m. about a mobile home fire on Autumnwood Way, just off Westmoreland Road.
